Sargent &#8211; Prix Killam 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Edward H. Sargent est un pionnier dans le domaine des nanotechnologies. Ses recherches portent notamment sur l&#8217;utilisation de nanocristaux semiconducteurs appel\u00e9s points quantiques collo\u00efdaux, ou cQD. Ses connaissances sur la chimie fondamentale de la synth\u00e8se des cQD, combin\u00e9es \u00e0 une compr\u00e9hension consid\u00e9rable de leurs propri\u00e9t\u00e9s \u00e9lectriques \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9chelle des nanom\u00e8tres, lui ont permis d\u2019assembler, sur les plans atomique et mol\u00e9culaire, des mat\u00e9riaux photovolta\u00efques nouveaux, dot\u00e9s de propri\u00e9t\u00e9s que l&#8217;on ne trouve pas dans le monde naturel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Edward Sargent est professeur d&#8217;universit\u00e9 et titulaire de la chaire de recherche du Canada en nanotechnologie au D\u00e9partement de g\u00e9nie \u00e9lectrique et informatique Edward S. Rogers Sr. \u00e0 l&#8217;Universit\u00e9 de Toronto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Son travail lui a valu le Prix Brockhouse Canada du CRSNG (de pair avec Shana Kelley) en recherche interdisciplinaire et en g\u00e9nie. Il est membre de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 royale du Canada au sein du D\u00e9partement de sciences math\u00e9matiques et physique, de l&#8217;Acad\u00e9mie canadienne du g\u00e9nie, de l&#8217;Institut des ing\u00e9nieurs \u00e9lectriciens et \u00e9lectroniciens ainsi que de l\u2019Association am\u00e9ricaine pour l&#8217;avancement des sciences. En 2012, il a re\u00e7u le Prix Steacie pour sa recherche novatrice dans le domaine de la technologie des cellules solaires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le travail d&#8217;Edward Sargent a non seulement eu un impact majeur dans le domaine, mais il a \u00e9galement inspir\u00e9 une vaste communaut\u00e9 de chercheurs de m\u00eame que de nombreuses applications industrielles. L&#8217;utilisation des nouveaux mat\u00e9riaux qu&#8217;il a cr\u00e9\u00e9s a conduit au d\u00e9veloppement de multiples dispositifs opto\u00e9lectroniques am\u00e9lior\u00e9s, tels que des dispositifs de d\u00e9tection infrarouge et des instruments de diagnostic m\u00e9dical. En augmentant consid\u00e9rablement l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 de la technologie des panneaux solaires, il a de plus grandement contribu\u00e9 au d\u00e9veloppement de l\u2019une des technologies
