Les diff\u00e9rences de traitement sensoriel influent sur le d\u00e9veloppement de l\u2019individu. Le travail de M.&nbsp;Stevenson est ax\u00e9 sur l\u2019information et le traitement sensoriels chez des populations neurodiverses, en particulier les personnes autistes. Si la plupart des personnes autistes pr\u00e9sentent des probl\u00e8mes sensoriels, la pr\u00e9sentation de ces probl\u00e8mes varie consid\u00e9rablement d\u2019un individu \u00e0 l\u2019autre, ce qui rend les strat\u00e9gies de soutien uniformes moins tenables. Ces probl\u00e8mes sensoriels ont \u00e9galement tendance \u00e0 se regrouper chez les individus, certains groupes pr\u00e9sentant des probl\u00e8mes similaires, connus sous le nom de ph\u00e9notypes sensoriels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En ciblant un groupe important et bien caract\u00e9ris\u00e9 d\u2019enfants et d\u2019adolescents autistes, la recherche de M.&nbsp;Stevenson explorera les r\u00e9gions du cerveau associ\u00e9es aux diff\u00e9rences sensorielles observ\u00e9es chez les personnes autistes. Les travaux examineront les diff\u00e9rences entre les ph\u00e9notypes sensoriels sur le plan des capacit\u00e9s cognitives, de la symptomatologie clinique et des facteurs d\u00e9mographiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il existe de nombreuses preuves que l\u2019autisme n\u2019est pas un groupe unique et universel, mais qu\u2019il pr\u00e9sente au contraire un niveau \u00e9lev\u00e9 de diversit\u00e9. Il est important de tenir compte de cette diversit\u00e9 \u00e0 la fois pour comprendre l\u2019autisme et pour apporter un soutien significatif et cibl\u00e9 aux personnes autistes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">M.&nbsp;Stevenson, leader \u00e9mergent dans le domaine, entretient de nombreuses collaborations, y compris le R\u00e9seau de d\u00e9veloppement neurologique de la province de l&#8217;Ontario.
