Schmidt’s work focuses on the development of substantially faster methods to deal with hyper-parameters. The key innovation of his work is adapting hyper-parameters at the same time as the model is learning from data.
Synthesis of complex organic molecules is critical in areas as diverse as agriculture, energy conversion and storage, and manufacturing life-saving medicines. If successful, this work would significantly improve the sustainability and economics of PGM use for manufacturing medicines and materials.
