Dr. Catalina Lopez-Correa is Vice-Chair of the Global Genomics Network for Education and Training (GGNET) and Co-Chair of the Patient Working Group of the Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres Network. She has dedicated her career to advancing genomics and translating its transformative potential into real-world applications in healthcare, research, and innovation across Canada and internationally.
Through senior leadership roles at Genome Canada, Genome British Columbia, Genome Quebec, Eli Lilly, and deCODE Genetics, Dr. Lopez-Correa has played a pivotal role in building high-performing teams, driving major research and innovation initiatives, and strengthening Canada’s position as a global leader in genomics. She has also forged international partnerships and networks that have accelerated the adoption and application of genomic technologies worldwide.
Following her breast cancer diagnosis in 2023, Dr. Lopez-Correa became a passionate advocate for equitable access to precision oncology and genomic testing. Drawing on her unique perspective as a physician, genomics scientist, and cancer patient, she is a leading voice in advancing patient-centered cancer care. Through keynote lectures, podcasts, blogs, and conference panels, she raises awareness of the critical role genomics plays in improving cancer diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes. Her contributions to science, innovation, and international collaboration have been recognized through numerous distinctions, including the Canadian Senate 150th Anniversary Medal and Colombia’s National Order of Merit.
