With an interest in the influence of environmental factors on pancreas development and beta cell health in Canadians who have either prediabetes or diabetes, Jennifer’s project project is aimed at clarifying how per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) – aka “forever chemicals” that are prevalent in the environment – adversely affect metabolic health.
There is currently little known about how animals behave in burned landscapes. Logan’s research focuses on the American marten, animals that are specialized to live in forests and very sensitive to disturbances that remove trees.
Being a Killam Laureate has encouraged me about the importance and relevance of my research, has affirmed my pursuit of doctoral studies, and has encouraged me to continue striving for research excellence.
