“If anything helped me to move forward in my career, it was the curiosity to look behind every open door.”

Julio Montaner, MD, FRCPC, FCCP, FACP, FRSC, has been dedicated to improving the care and treatment of HIV/AIDS-infected people for nearly three decades. Currently, he is a Professor of Medicine, Chair of AIDS Research, and Head of the Division of AIDS in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He is also the Director of the British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS (BC-CFE), a program at St. Paul’s Hospital (SPH), Providence Health Care (PHC); the National Co-Director of the Canadian HIV Trials Network and a Past President of the International AIDS Society (IAS).
