Dr. Lawrence Goodridge is a Professor in the Department of Food Science at the University of Guelph, where he holds the Canada Research Chair in Foodborne Pathogen Dynamics and serves as Director of the Canadian Research Institute for Food Safety. A leading food microbiologist, his research focuses on the detection, characterization, and control of foodborne pathogens, with the goal of strengthening food safety and public health in Canada and beyond.
Dr. Goodridge applies genomics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, microbiome science, and surveillance approaches to better understand bacterial contaminants across the food production chain. His work spans foodborne bacteria, viruses, parasites, antimicrobial resistance, and wastewater-based monitoring of infectious disease.
He brings deep research expertise, an interdisciplinary perspective, and a strong commitment to research excellence, inclusion, diversity, and public impact in Canadian scholarship.
